What’s up with Google News – Most Popular. The US version is usually filled with drivel. I visit today and I see items on Canadian politics, Somali pirates, and ever have to scroll down to see items about the election! Are Americans reading international news? Has the caducity of gossip finally reached its limit? Did Google Change the algorithm?

Ripping CDs
I’m happy with my Dell Dimension C521 running Kubuntu, and now that I can write to the NTFS partition I can rip all kinds of CDs (NTFS is good for something). Four tops, no problem. India.Arie, Jill Scott, no ploblem. Lars Winnerbäck, Mel Tormé, Moby, Pete Fountain, Sublime, easy. Eagles, Nirvana, buzz! Out of a whim I try in on the old Quantex PII, was zen before the tree, no problem! I even tried it on the Dell at ×2. What does the old PII have that the AMD64 don’t?

Help Me
My life is whole again now that The Daily Show and The Colbert Report are on the air again, but I fear the next time they have a vacation. I don’t know what I would do without it. Mr. Colbert and Mr. Stewart should be chained to there desks and be forced to report 24/7.

Gonzales Leaves
I wonder if Alberto Gonzales choose to resign now because Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert just started a two week hiatus.

Mr. Beckham goes to Washington
I watched David Beckham make is starting début for the LA Galaxy last night. Well, I watched the first half and went to bed, it started at 22:00 and I need my ugly sleep! I’ve read that a few days ago, in Washington, DC United defeated the LA Galaxy even after they subbed in Mr. Beckham in the second half. That was a regular MLS game, but then last night in SuperLiga, in Carson California, Mr. Becham showed his stuff. Apart from a mediocre showing in the World Cup I’ve never seed him play, and wondered what all the hype was about. In the start DC United dominated, then the unfit Mr. Beckham got tackled, he stood up with a huge grin on his face and he was on. Until Philadelphia gets a team, I’m a DC United fan, but with a goal and an assist last night I see why fútbol fans love or hate him.

last.fm
|
The last.fm has been looking at me from the Amarok configuration window for months. A few weeks ago I finally signed up. Now I’m not trying to get anybody to sing up, but I’ve wondered if anybody is already signed up want to be my friend. I remember when I playing with 30 Boxes it always said “You have no friends.” This kind of depressed me, but last.fm says “You haven’t added any friends yet” so it isn’t so depressing.

Delaware Rag
Last Sunday, on 余艾蕾’s whim, my nuclear family went to Newtown Welcome Day. Apart from getting Zoë, my nearly three year old, a bag of kettlecorn we got nothing. Well, almost nothing. We checked out some art work, none of it was quite right for both of us. We where on our way out, but Zoë wanted to relax and eat her kettlecorn. We sat down at a stages near the exit, and up came the Delaware Rag. Even before they started playing I was admiring John Corrigan’s handle bar mustache. When they started playing I was admiring Mr. Corrigan’s kazoo playing (if you got rhythm you can’t play the kazoo bad, can you?).
Primary instruments include Mr. Corrigan on the mandolin, Paul Kupfer on the guitar, Patrick Mahalland on the bass (not the fish), and Casey Neal an the banjo. Mr. Neal also had a guitar but Zoë wanted leave before it got used. Primary critic, Zoë, liked them until she filled up with kettlecorn; this is actually saying a lot as the only CDs she seem to like are The Beatles and a Berlitz Spanish language CD that tries to teach you how to pick up girls in Spanish (I got it to help me understand Fútbol matches on Spanish television (really!)). On the way out I picked up there CD, The Rag for $10.
Apart from not being rag time, it is a worthwhile CD. Though it may be a strange relation, it’s oddly similar to the Grateful Dead. Maybe it’s because I live walking distance to the Delaware Canal but I think the best song on this album, I fear to call country music (blueglass?), is Toe the Line. Well worth the ¢99 I suspect iTunes is selling it for.
