Dad has an article in today’s San Diego Union Tribune. It’s about geomythology: how myths may have some truth in geological terms (like Atlantis). It’s really interesting reading, but I like the part where Dad says “Five years ago, I couldn’t do this without destroying my career.”

Ed Vielmetti points out an easy way to tag your Mac OS X Address Book entries, which is adding a custom field for things like “friend”, etc. Which can then be searchable. I think I’m going to do that for things like Christmas cards, birthdays in certain months, etc.

Am I meant to capitalize the ‘i’ in ‘iTunes’ when I start a sentence? Hay, I digressed before I started! To continue with the digression, I hate these new words with capitales letters in it. I’m suprised it’s not ‘podCasting’. Call me on the telePhone if you know the answer. Anyway…

ITunes crashes my Mac about once a week. That’s all I thought I had to say before I started rambeling uselessly on like a blogger.

I just found out aboutSTICKAM, but I’m still learning about it. Anyone else join it? Wanna try with me? 🙂 You can put real time streaming video of your webcam on your blog or webpage. It’s neat. I’d like to get it working with LJ, but it does work now with Blogger, apparently.

I could have sworn I wrote a post here about Grey Matters, the blog of the writers of Grey’s Anatomy. Freaking brilliant show. Last Sunday’s episode (or whatever day it airs in teh US) was downloaded overnight and we just watched it here. The beauty of the shower, the intimacy, the ‘this is how real women take care of each other’. I know I was ready to bawl, and more than a few friends of mine have said the same thing. That freaking show deserves an Emmy JUST for the ep.

Step 1: With a Finder window open, click on the Library folder that’s in your home directory.

Step 2: Drag it onto your desktop.

Step 3: Make it log off or reboot the iBook in question.

The end result: all of your preferences, your keychain of logins, your Safari bookmarks, your entire world has vanished.

The fix: put Library back in your home directory, not on your desktop, after you’ve logged off to make sure already-opened files don’t make you actually lose everything. We accomplished this by making an SSH connection from another computer. Another fix could be logging in as another user and opening up an Applications->Utilities->Terminal window and doing it manually.

I don’t know if there’s an elegant way to recover from this startlingly crippling little step.

I just shelled out over $500 for my summer vegetables. An investment I will not see return from until June, but from then it’s mountains of organic vegetables until November. While I could of mailed in the check, the farm is just a short detour from my evening commute, so I stopped by. Farmer Matt, and somebody I hadn’t met before, where drinking Yuengling while picking seeds from a catalogue. I pushed lima beans, something they lacked last year. This is will be my second year at the Cherry Grove Organic Farm, I am already anxious.
